Loving Your Dog Is Not Always Enough – New Beginnings Dog Training Blog

by | Apr 7, 2017

Loving your dog sounds easy, we all love our dogs. For some, loving your dog is not enough.  No amount of love can fix behaviors that have gotten out of control. If your dog is a wreak with dangerous behaviors no amount of love and treats are going to fix it.  What is hard is your knowing there is a problem and making the uncomfortable and difficult decision to do something about it.  Even when you know it is going to take work.

I have witnessed hundreds of dogs whose owners “love them” but have no control over their behavior.  Owners often say…My dog is so good inside the house with the family.

What is hard is your knowing there is a problem and making the uncomfortable and difficult decision to do something about it.

BUT…..It is that but that is the problem.  If no one can come into your house without being threatened by the dog and chaos breaks out at the windows when someone walks down your sidewalk.  Forget walking, the dog can’t be controlled.  This isn’t a happy life for a dog, yes it is loved but that isn’t enough.

When a dog has to constantly be in a state of arousal worrying who might come in to the house or on the property it isn’t a balanced relaxed life. That is a very stressful existence for a dog.  Think about stress in our own lives and what it can do to our health.  Your dog will suffer as well.

Remember if you love your dog you will do whatever is possible so they learn the rules to live by.  Don’t let them make up rules on their own, because you probably are not going to like them!
